Viticulture in Malta & Gozo
Characteristics of vineyards in Malta and Gozo are very small holdings, averaging about 1/3 of a hectare per vineyard. Exceptional high sunlight hours, calcareous soil, normal to rather high temperatures during the vegetative season, dry summers and controlled rescue irrigation and fresh sea breeze all over the island all contribute to a premium quality grape produce, much suitable for producing high end quality wines.
